Data Deletion Instructions
Last updated: August 22, 2026
This page explains how to delete data held by InstaChatbot, including data received through the WhatsApp Business Platform. It is publicly accessible and requires no login, so that Meta and your customers can reach it at any time.
1. Delete a single conversation or contact
You can do this yourself, immediately, from the dashboard:
- Open your shop and go to the Contacts tab.
- Find the phone number and choose Delete. This removes the contact record, its consent history, and its campaign delivery records.
- Message history for a number is removed when the shop is deleted, or on request using the form below.
2. Stop receiving marketing messages
Any customer can reply STOP to a WhatsApp message at any time. This is processed before any other automation and takes effect immediately — the contact is marked opted out and excluded from every future campaign. No account or app is needed.
3. Delete a shop and all its data
- Open the shop, go to Settings.
- Under Danger zone, choose Delete this shop.
- This permanently removes the shop's rules, message log, contacts, templates, campaigns and delivery records, along with the stored Meta credentials for that number.
4. Delete your entire account
Email TODO: privacy@instachatbot.online from the address registered on the account, with the subject “Delete my account”. We will:
- Confirm the request from the registered email address.
- Delete your user record, all shops, rules, message logs, contacts, templates, campaigns and delivery records.
- Delete any stored Meta access tokens and phone number identifiers.
- Complete the deletion within 30 days and confirm in writing when it is done.
5. Data received from Meta
InstaChatbot receives inbound message content, sender phone numbers and delivery receipts from the WhatsApp Business Platform in order to reply on your behalf and report on campaigns. This data is deleted through the same routes described above. We do not sell it, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.
6. What we may retain
After deletion we retain only what the law requires — typically invoices and tax records, kept for the statutory retention period. These contain billing details, not WhatsApp message content.
7. Backups
Deleted records may persist in encrypted backups for up to 30 days before those backups age out. They are not restored to production except in a disaster-recovery event, and deletion is re-applied if that happens.
